Club News - What's Happening

Club Growth - Springfield Thunder Soccer Club is growing in number of teams and players.  We have went from 10 U9-U14 teams in 08-09 to 16 teams in 09-10.  We anticipate we will field 21 teams this fall.

Norm RikerClub Trainer/Director of Coaching - Springfield Thunder Soccer Club is happy to announce that Norm Riker will be the club trainer and director of coaching for our teams.  Norm has been the Women's Soccer Coach at Wittenberg University since 2002.  He has turned the Tigers into a force in the North Coast Athletic Conference, one of the preeminent women's soccer conferences in all of NCAA Division III. Wittenberg has an outstanding 58-15-12 record between the 2004-07 seasons, including four straight top-three finishes in the NCAC regular season title chase. The Tigers have been ranked in the top 10 in the Great Lakes Region for most of the last four seasons and broke into the national top 25 briefly in 2005 and 2006 before putting together the best season in school history in 2007.  He holds numerous coaching licenses, most notably the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premiere Diploma and a United States Soccer Federation B License.

One Call Now - Springfield Thunder Soccer Club will continue to purchase the One Call Now service for each of the club teams for the fall 2010 and spring 2011 seasons.  This service allows the coach or his designee to make one call to the service and the service than makes calls to each parent on the team.

Springfield of Dreams Charity Cup - The club sponsors the annual Charity Cup each year in August.  This year it is August 14-15, 2010.  Any parent who would like to serve on the Cup Committee this year should contact the tournament director Paul Maletic at paul4lcc@aol.com or call 206-5900.

Referees needed!  Great exercise, have fun, and get paid.  Please visit http://www.dasoa.org/ for more information. Classes will be held this summer.
